Day 3: Interview with the Judges

This morning we got to sleep in until 4am west coast time. Woo hoo!  Guess since we're on day 3 I gotta make the switch and stop going by west coast time.  ;)

The day started for Jordan with a panel interview with the 5 judges. The interview portion is worth 15 points from each judge. They drop the highest and lowest score and take the middle 3 scores for a total of 45 points.

Jordan's favorite part of the process is the interview. This girl has no problem taking center stage & chatting!

Fellow Shely Pack Dancer, Courtney who is competing in the Teen division, was looking good but anxious to get this part of the competition over with.

Jordan with some of her fellow contestants waiting to go in for their interviews. I think she is the tallest out of all the Petite division contestants.

Here she is with a new friend, Miranda, who is Petite Miss Dance contestant #10 from the Midwest Chapter 47

Jordan was all smiles when she came out of her interview. She said she made the judges laugh & that they clapped for her after she sang them part of Uptown Funk from Bruno Mars (which is her favorite song of course).  Way to ace your interview Jordan!

Day 2: Ballet & Tap Auditions

Jordan felt good about her solo preview performance for the judges. Now on to her first 2 auditions. These will be scored. First they will be taught a ballet combination, they will get a few minutes to practice it & then they call their number & they perform it for the judges.  The next hour will be the same thing only in tap.

Unfortunately jet lag has set in for Jordan and I couldn't get her to eat lunch before her auditions.  But I got her to drink a little apple juice.  Hoping she remembers to eat her granola bar between auditions!

And there's Jordan!

And here's an ad from the program from Jordan's grandparents, aunts, uncles & cousins.

And an ad from Mom, Dad & Zoe

And from her Shely Pack Dancers teachers & friends

And here's Zoe on the back cover of the program from her big win last year as one of the finalists of Junior Miss Dance of America. Yep- she's tall!

After auditions she'll get an hour break for dinner before having a rehearsal from 5 to 9pm. I hope she's hungry!  I'm thinking she will be.......

Day 2: Solo Preview for the Judges

After orientation all the contestants perform their solo for the judges. This performance is not scored but a chance for the judges to see all 30 contestants prior to the start of official judging. The judges can take notes & this is where they scope out the talent and determine who are the ones to watch.

Here's Jordan stretching.

With a little help from her sister.

Even in a back bend she gives a thumbs up.

Alright- time to show the judges what she's got!  Go Jordan!!

Day 2: Petite Title Competition Orientation & Solo Preview

Up at 3:30am West Coast time!  But Jordan was in a good mood & had a good breakfast.

Then hair & make-up and off to orientation.

Jordan was one of the first ones there.

Got a review of the schedule of events & all the rules. So many rules!  So much to remember!

Jordan got her official back pack with all the program.

Ok time to go stretch. More later...
