Day 4: Musical Theater and Hip Hop Classes

Last night after seeing Fiddler on the Roof, which of course has amazing music but also has the greatest choreography especially for the men, we did another Talk Back with the cast.  It is so interesting to hear about their career experiences. At the end, the Stage Manager gave Jordan an autographed PLAYBILL in a plastic cover that had the signatures of the whole cast in it. Very cool!

Today Jordan started the day by taking a musical theater class with a guy who has been performing on Broadway for 14 years. He started out as a dancer & went to NY right out of high school when he was 18 years old & was fortunate to get a job in a show right away. He is currently performing in An American in Paris but he has been in Wicked; Kinky Boots; Adams Family & a number of other shows.

Here's Jordan waiting to walk to the Broadway Dance Center studios with the group this morning. We were in bed after midnight last night and had to be up at 6:30am this morning to meet up with the group at 7:15am. But despite being tired, after yesterday's workshop experience Jordan was super excited for today.

The Broadway Dance Center facilities are amazing. From the street it looks very small & nothing special, but once you're inside & go up the stairs it is a big, gorgeous facility with multiple dance studios of various sizes.

They have monitors in the waiting area upstairs where you can see what is going on in each of the studios.

This long hallway leading to some of the dance rooms has the pictures of famous dancers and choreographers that have trained there.

They also have a big monitor on the wall with the schedule of classes just for today. Busy place for sure. Dancers of all ages everywhere!  ðŸ’ƒðŸ‘¯

Here's Jordan stretching before class started.

They learned a combination from An American in Paris & the guy from the show that taught the class picked Jordan to partner with to teach the combination. Probably cuz she is tall & so is he.

After class he signed autographs and did a Q&A session with the kids about what's it's like to audition & perform on Broadway.

Jordan loved every minute of it!

And here she is with him after getting his autograph on her tee shirt.

She's getting a lot of autographs now!

The second class she took was a Hip Hop class. The teacher for this class was so funky. Is that an appropriate way to describe a hip hop teacher??  I'm not sure. 😲

Here's Jordan get'in her groove on.

And a shot of the group after class.

And there's the teacher with Jordan behind her.

Check out these cool dance shoes!  Who wants a pair?!  I do, I do!!

Following the classes we all went as a group to the Hard Rock Cafe for lunch. Not much to speak of on the food front, but is a cool location in Time Square.

Tonight we have the evening on our own. We are both pretty tired and Jordan has a big day tomorrow doing the Rockette Experience and seeing their show, so we might just have a good dinner out somewhere and hit the sack early. That sounds wonderful to me right now! 😴💤

Well that's a wrap for now. 😘
